Donatella Castelli is a Senior Researcher working at Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie della Informazione  “A. Faedo” of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-ISTI).

She has been the principal investigator of several European and National funded projects on digital libraries and data e-Infrastructure acquiring considerable experience in these domains. “In particular, she has been the European scientific director of the EUBrazilOpenBio project aimed at launching the development of a data infrastructure of open access resources in the biodiversity domain. She is currently the scientific director of the EU co-funded iMarine initiative which aims at deploying a data e-Infrastructure ecosystem for marine biology and fisheries management. She is also the technical director of the OpenAIREPlus project which is developing and operating the Open Access infrastructure for Research in Europe serving scientists and research administrators by exploiting national and regional publication repositories and data archives.  Her scientific interests are centered on data modeling, data interoperability and data infrastructures.
