Get ready for EUBrazilCloudConnect applications

EUBrazilCloudConnect will soon be 1 year old and we are delighted to be sharing our success stories so far. A key achievement has been building the EUBrazilCC e-infrastructure and applications. They all share the common objective of investigating new ways to support collaborative research, specifically in areas where the advent of massive data sources, combined with the availability of large-scale computing capabilities, is changing the way that knowledge is generated and therefore used to take action.

Get ready: our applications will soon be available on www.eubrazilcloudconnect.eu

Focused on molecular surveillance of Leishmania  and their vectors, our LVL contains a number of online collaborative and research tools for advancing the current knowledge about leishmaniasis. These tools will allow public health workers and researchers, but also international organizations, pharmaceutical companies and public sectors workers to access the LVL and supply relevant and in-depth information or data on the parasite and vector responsible for this disease from a unique entry point.

We hope that doctors will use, in a relatively near future, the results of this tool in the same model that they use images and radiology: someone run some simulation under some specific conditions and these results are then transferred to the doctor. A little bit like what happens for x-rays: doctors do not take by themselves the x-ray, someone take them and give the doctor the result of the takes. In parallel, we expect medical researchers, depending on their expertise, to use these tools by themselves."

Through EUBrazilCC scientific gateway applications and services will be adapted to provide a framework for the study of the impact of biodiversity and climate change.  We expect informing agriculturalists, climatologists and other environment professionals on how they can do interventions in the biodiversity and ecosystem in order to mitigate negative effects of climate change (for example by preferential seeding of target plant species), to define policies to mitigate land degradation and desertification and to develop conservation projects.

Scientific papersFrom Leishmaniasis to remote sensing applications, from Big Data Management to Cardio-vascular research: different specialized articles have been selected for peer-reviewed journals. They are all available for download here.

How to? Our training materials spam from guides and manuals, presentations and demos, exercises, videos of live events and tutorials. A couple of demos is already avaiable in this area.

Interviews. Interviews and testimonials are integral in establishing synergies and get an official recognition of the willingness to collaborate with EUBrazilCC. José Luiz Ribeiro Filho, Director of Services and Solutions of RNP; Wilson Peres, Senior Economic Officer at the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC); Alfonso Ríos Alonso, Indra Sistemas, Spain officially committed to EUBrazilCC. Read what they said to us.
