Tecgraf/PUC-Rio brings to the project its expertise in developing and applying technological solutions to different scenarios of scientific needs. Tecgraf supports and extend CSGrid/CSBase and Openbus systems in order to meet requirements of cloud infrastructures. CSGrid is an instance of CSBase, a framework to manage distributed computational resources and control the execution of different algorithms in distributed and heterogeneous environments. Openbus is an Enterprise Service Bus which supports component-based  applications integration on complex, distributed, multi-language and multi-platform scenarios. Both CSGrid/CSBase and Openbus have
been used for several years in Petrobras (Brazilian Oil Company) and currently, these technologies are used on SINAPAD platform, in partnership with LNCC. Tecgraf also participates in dissemination activities and production of instructional content for this project.



Partner overview

PUC-Rio was the first private higher education institution in the country, created by the Catholic Church. Tecgraf/PUC-Rio is a Computer Graphics Research and Development Institute that belongs to PUC-Rio. Since its inception in 1985, Tecgraf/PUC-Rio develops technical and scientific computing systems based on complex mathematical models, numerical simulations and efficient three-dimensional interactive graphical display. Its longest and most fertile cooperation is with Petrobras, developing innovative software products in the areas of Geophysics, Geology, Reservoirs, Geomechanics, Marine Facilities, Industrial Plants, Environment, Logistics and Training. At its premises, Tecgraf/PUC-Rio has supported a growing number of masters and doctorate degrees, in both Civil Engineering and Informatics. Since the mid-90s, Tecgraf/PUC-Rio’s research and development projects faced increasing demand for distributed processing and network environment integration resources, both local and geographically distributed. The Distributed Systems Engineering group works in investigating and developing new abstractions, architectures and middleware systems for the implementation of more flexible, robust and scalable distributed systems.
