External Expert Committee

EUBrazil Cloud Connect has assembled a series of experts to form the project External Expert Committee (EEC). This committee is chartered with providing consultation and strategic advice to the EUBrazilCC consortium, heighten the impact of EUBrazilCC by participating at project events and increasing external visibility.
The group, with the EUBrazil Cloud Connect consortium, will raise full awareness of the uses cases and technologies developed and will promote EUBrazil Cloud Connect success stories towards industry stakeholders, big research institutes and initiatives, government and public authorities, education and academic institutions, helping to increase the project impact through their personal networks and interactions. In order to ensure the EEC is active towards the project target user communities, the experts cover industry (2 representatives), data infrastructure (1 representative), and the 3 specific scientific domains covered, and they are balanced between Europe and Brazil.

Fabrizio Gagliardi, EEC Chair

"Given my mix of industrial and academic research background together with a long experience of European Commission R&D programmes I think I can effectively chair and steer the work of EEC. For this I can also leverage my extended network of scientific relations in Europe and in Latin America, especially in Brazil"
Senior Strategy advisor at the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, visiting professor of computer science at the graduate school of GSSI in Italy and Chair of ACM Europe, EEC Chair

Vincent Breton, CNRS-IN2P3, France

"I am keen to strengthen the scientific collaborations on e-infrastructures between EUrope and South America. My experience in the deployment of scientific applications in the field of life sciences can be useful to EUBrazil Cloud Connect. I am also developing a personal scientific interest for biodiversity and see EUBrazil Cloud Connect as a wonderful opportunity to foster an ambitious multidisciplinary research program on tropical forests involving researchers in French Guyana"
Research director of Grid and Cloud Institute at CNRS-IN2P3 and co-founder of the Healthgrid and WISDOM initiatives

Donatella Castelli, CNR-ISTI, Italy

“I have a quite extensive expertise on the development of data e-infrastructures, both “horizontal” and “domain specific” ones. I can bring to the EEC state-of-the art knowledge on major open issues and solutions implemented in the context of this type of infrastructures for accessing, processing and managing data"
Senior Researcher,"Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie della Informazione, "A. Faedo" of the National Council of Research of Italy

Marco Antonio Gutierrez, Heart Institute University of Sao Paulo Medical School, BRAZIL

I will bring into EUBrazil Cloud Connect more than two decades of experience and contribution in the areas of electronic medical records and medical image processing, with an emphasis on biomedical image analysis, including the development and deployment of large scale electronic medical records, methods to segment vessels in 2D ultrasound image data and the detection of non-rigid motion and deformation from spatiotemporal 4D images (SPECT and MRI).
Head of Informatics Division at Heart Institute (InCor), University of Sao Paulo Medical School, Brazil

Jose Antonio Marengo, INPE, Brazil

"I will bring into Cloud Connect my experience in climate variability and change, climate modelling as well as on the production of regional climate changes scenarios for impact studies. I also work in studying and modelling climate weather and climate extremes that trigger natural disasters, and I am very involved with communication and capacity building on climate issues, enhancing awareness on environmental issues"
Senior Scientist at the National Institute for Space Research in Sao Paulo, Brazil

Alfonso Ríos Alonso, Indra Sistemas, Spain

"I can provide to the EUBrazil Cloud Connect project all my experience and expertise in Cloud technologies. I lead several projects related with a complete suite of services of a native Cloud technology which enables the cloud adoption of not cloud based applications"
Cloud Computing Director of Indra Sistemas, Spain
