This paper was submitted for the EGI CF 2014, Session: New data management solutions for EGI, 21 May 2014. Sandro Fiore from CMCC, presented EUBrazil Cloud Connect 3rd project use case which focuses on big data analytics, dealing with multiple multidimensional and heterogeneous data sources like output of global and regional climate models simulations and different types of satellite data.

In the context of the EU FP7 EUBrazil Cloud Connect project (, the Ophidia framework is being extended in order to integrate scalable VM-based solutions for the management of large volumes of scientific data (both climate and satellite data) in a cloud-based environment to study how climate change affects biodiversity.
